KUN → DAL → LIJ
The Eternal Spring
Kunming, Dali, Lijiang — China's highland spring at 2,000 m. 22°C in July, snow peaks on the skyline, and the one summer route that doesn't melt.
The itinerary
This route is in development — the waitlist shapes it. Here's the sketch:
- D01Land in the Spring City — Touch down at 1,900 m. The weather owes the rest of China an apology.
- D02Stone Forest day — A 270-million-year-old karst maze, then Green Lake teahouses.
- D03Bullet train into Bai country — Two hours west. White courtyards, a mountain wall, lake air.
- D04The Erhai loop — E-bikes, lake wind, and the lone tree your feed already knows.
- D05Cangshan day — Cableway up the 4,000 m wall behind the old town.
- D06North to the Naxi capital — A cobblestone maze with a snow peak at the end of every lane.
- D07Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — 4,500 m by cableway. Oxygen cans optional, photos not.
- D08Tiger Leaping Gorge — The Jinsha River in full roar, a canyon wall on each shoulder.
- D09Baisha + Shuhe villages — Naxi courtyards and copper lanes. Last dinner is the crew's call.
- D10Depart — Down from the mountains. The group chat stays at altitude.
What you're walking into
Real places from the route — crew photos replace these after the first departure.
Getting in is easier than your parents remember.
- Canadian, British or Australian passport? You're in visa-free — up to 30 days, no application, through Dec 31, 2026.
- US passport? Get the standard tourist visa — that's the route we recommend: walk in at your nearest Chinese consulate, no appointment, and it's typically issued for 10 years of trips. The 240-hour visa-free transit only works if you fly onward to a third country or region — treat it as a backup, not the plan.
Entry policies change. Verify current rules with the Chinese National Immigration Administration or your nearest consulate before booking.
